Yin and Yang Yoga

Discover how vigorous Yang flows and reflective Yin holds work together to build strength, mobility, and calm.

Why we need both

Our bodies contain two very different kinds of tissue:

  • Yang tissues – muscles that stretch easily and spring back like rubber bands.

  • Yin tissues – fascia, ligaments, tendons, and joint capsules that lengthen slowly and respond best to gentle, sustained load.

Practising only one style leaves half the system under‑trained. Blend the two and you keep muscles strong and supple while giving deeper connective tissues the time they need to release and re‑hydrate.

What to expect from a Yang class
  • Dynamic sequences with shorter holds (a few breaths).

  • Emphasis on strength, stamina, circulation, and heat.

  • Soft, elastic muscles are the main focus, opening and contracting through full ranges of motion.

What to expect from a Yin class
  • Slow, guided postures held for two to five minutes, often supported by props.

  • Targeting fascia, ligaments, tendons, and vertebral discs rather than muscle fibres.

  • An inward, meditative journey that calms the nervous system and encourages mindful awareness.

  • Scientifically shown to help break down adhesions (that “cling‑wrap” feeling) caused by injury, poor posture, or repetitive training.

Yin practice gives you
Joint mobility and health fascia
Deep nervous-system relaxation
Improved range of motion
Greater mental clarity and stillness
Yang practice gives you
Strength and power
Cardiovascular boost
Posture and alignment
Energised mind-set

Together they create a complete, sustainable approach that lets the body work hard, cool down, repair, and grow.
