Coming from a working background in fitness and health promotion, Vanessa previously worked part time as a fitness and spinning instructor whilst also enjoying her primary career as a Registered General Nurse.
She later discovered a passion in Hot Yoga and the buzz it generated holistically alongside the lineage of yoga itself. In addition she then attended a 200-hour Hot Yoga training programme in America, Fort Lauderdale studying the Barkan Hot Yoga Method, which equipped her with the knowledge to understand and fully appreciate all the aspects of this type of practice and the advantages it brings working alongside any other sports or endurance type training where flexibility and stretching are paramount to maintaining performance and recovery.
Vanessa later attended a 100hr Yin Certified Teacher course in Thailand and now integrates that within the Hot Yoga class ethos. The name of the business changed with a new branding to HAY (Hot and Yin Yoga) was relaunched and the classes now embrace the benefits of the heated Yang inspired sequence before embracing the healing, holistic qualities of a Yin practice.
Qualified as Barkan Hot Yoga Teacher Training Level 1, BSY Hatha Yoga Instructor, 100hr Yin Certified and a registered Advanced Yoga Teacher Alliance Member with 10 years teaching experience. She is a registered Adult General Nurse with a diploma in Health Studies (RGN dip h).
