Why Rebound?

HAY Yoga Guernsey
As we head towards Daylight Saving Time this weekend and the lure of an extra hour in bed we also thought it was a good time to send out our latest updates and discuss the rationale for the Rebound in Yin Yoga Practice.

Hay Yoga News

Our fun packed, holistic and truly relaxing well being Herm Yoga Retreat is rapidly approaching and the schedule is now available to view and plan on the website in the Herm Yoga Retreat section.  The White House Ferry will be taking us to Herm on Friday at 4pm and then back to Guernsey at 11.10am on the Sunday.  If you are keen to join we may have one single room available with full payment needed to secure a place.  Email directly for more details if keen to make a last minute addition to our group.

Our cosy HQ – Fennel Cottage Hay Yoga Studio is up and running with an evening class every Wednesday and more classes to come in the near future as well as our launch party in December.

The schedule for November / December is available here and on the website bookings have returned to the normal booking system for now with vouchers being presented when attending classes. Any queries pls do not hesitate to contact me directly.

Why Rebound?

Embracing the rebound is a really important component to the Yin yoga practice in our classes at Hay Yoga and something I can encourage my students to really embody. As part of a teacher’s ongoing study I was so pleased to find a course link from Yoga Alliance written by Dawn Wright.  She refreshingly reiterates my learnings on the subject that the Rebound holds three main positive facets – physical, energetic and mental well being as the key components of this.  On the physical level we feel into the sensations of the Yin pose that we have just held and stressed in various parts of our bodies which have healing qualities on a scientific, cellular level as well as the traditional meridian acupuncture based level.  The energy or chi charge which relate to our balance in Chinese medicine / Taoism and provides an opportunity to flush out the stagnant energy – chi from our bodies.  On the mental level – we observe the sensations that come from within by holding our poses and take on the challenge to breathe into the stress as well as let go in a meditative way.  Next time you practice a little Yin yoga as a “Yinster” allow yourself time to surrender to the Rebound as it holds many positive attributes!

All the best for now
Stay Bendy
