I took the time to attend this Yin Teacher training course a few years ago now in Thailand – you might be able to spot me in the far inset corner!
Time, we know is precious and hopefully, the Summer has given you some moments to embrace slowing down a little and seeing all that comes and goes in the warmer sunshine.
With this in mind, I recently read another great article from one of Yin’s early founders, Bernie Clark, on the role of time in Yin Yoga and the magic within that it holds. He highlights that the tissues in our bodies, unlike water poured from a cup, can be very viscous, more like honey when it is spooned into your morning teacup. So, when we take the time to hold the pose longer we allow the ligaments and joints to relax and in turn, lengthen, rehydrate and become stronger. Holding poses for longer in areas of the body that may have become stiff or immobile can also be a useful rehabilitative tool for active recovery.
When attending HAY classes we move from the hot, sweaty, endorphin-releasing “Yang side” of our yoga practice into the cooler, slower “Yin side’ of our practice where our attention and focus naturally then moves intrinsically inwards as we follow guided poses that work to promote and encourage us to explore our bodies and minds deeper. We, in turn, working alongside the power of the breath, offer a gateway to profound transformation within the body and mind – and therefore by showing up at a class we take the time to be present on our mat!
HAY Updates:-

The first ten attendees to book will receive a HAY merchandise gift, to say thanks, as we start up a new term from our summer break!
