Happy New Year & Welcome to our Blog and 2023 Newsletter
Taking the time to understand the methodology behind your yoga practice both from an anatomical and psychological level has always been an important part of the process and ethos we like to share as an offering when taking part in any of our yoga classes. It’s not always just about showing up and switching off once on the mat but also taking the time to tune in to what’s going on in you!
It’s about attending a class so that you can feel into your body and mind working alongside the theme and direction that’s being provided and initiated via various queues from your teacher – this, in turn, makes the practice a much more holistic experience. This is particularly relevant when easing into our Yin poses and exploring our self induced sustainable stresses on the body as we tune in and incorporate the membranes of fascia that bind and hold us together as best as it can. The more we let go and explore in Yin the more we acquire and this is why is it not just a beginner entry yoga practice.
Fascia and all its cell segments are interchangeable and can be strengthened and realigned with yoga practice so that any repetitive behaviours in our daily lives that have impacted on posture or caused us injury can be embraced and located. With regular practice and more understanding of the Chinese meridian theology we can channel the areas with poses and breath work that provide support where needed on a daily level. There is currently so much new research and evidence based practice evolving on the body’s fascia and its involvement in our evolving body shape that it really is an exciting time to be taking up or continuing any form of yoga practice in 2023.
